Yalıçiftlik, Bodrum, Turkey
YALI KORU Eco-Tourism is a sustainable resort development in Yalıçiftlik, Bodrum that harmoniously blends eco-friendly design with local Aegean charm. The project features eco-villas and a village of low-rise townhouses arranged around a communal piazza. Each component of the master plan is designed to respect the natural topography and coastline, creating a low-impact retreat that immerses guests in nature and local culture.
The YALI KORU master plan embraces sustainable design principles to minimize environmental impact and celebrate the local ecosystem:
The design draws inspiration from Bodrum’s vernacular architecture, reinterpreting the region’s traditional house typologies. Elements of the historic Kule Ev (Tower House), Musandirali Ev (Mezzanine House), and Sakiz Ev (Khios House) are reflected in the villas’ designs. These indigenous forms feature thick stone walls, elevated or split-level layouts, and shaded courtyards – principles embraced at YALI KORU to create residences that feel authentic to Bodrum’s heritage while meeting modern standards of comfort and sustainability.
A range of six eco-villa types offers diverse accommodations while adhering to sustainable design. Each villas is positioned on a generous private plot to ensure privacy, unobstructed sea views, and optimal natural ventilation. Traditional stone construction and whitewashed exteriors echo the local Bodrum style, while open-air courtyards and terraces extend living spaces into the landscape.
The master plan of YALI KORU is organized as an organic extension of the terrain. Small clusters of villas and townhouses form intimate neighborhoods much like traditional villages, carefully integrated with the hilly topography. A central green spine connects key areas of the site, preserving existing forest pockets and creating natural corridors between developments. The layout ensures a low building footprint and reconnects visitors with nature through minimal site intervention.
Key community nodes are strategically placed: a lively village piazza at the heart of the townhouse cluster, a hilltop club house and retreat center overlooking the sea, and an organic farm nestled in the landscape. These hubs are linked by scenic walking paths and eco-trails, ensuring guests can easily explore gardens, ponds, and panoramic viewpoints throughout the property.
